The following example aligns the given equations at the $\sleftquote\gt\srightquote$ and $\sleftquote\lt\srightquote$ signs of the two equations thanks to the $\sleftquote\&\srightquote$ that occurs just before each. The first equation ends at the $\sleftquote \text{\\\\} \srightquote$.
